JENNERSTOWN — A popular motor speedway will stay open for another summer but may be sold or leased next year, speedway officials said.

Dave Wheeler, one of the owners of the 77-year-old Jennerstown Speedway, had warned drivers in August that the track could close.

Wheeler, an executive at Wheeler Bros. Inc. in Somerset, purchased the track four year ago but felt that other responsibilities did not leave him enough time to tend to the speedway, general manager Larry Mattingly said.
