MEADVILLE — Three men stole a hunter's doe at gunpoint, the hunter said."I'm really, really upset about the whole ordeal," said Robert Hanna, 42, of Meadville. "(It's) over a dumb deer. If they wanted it so bad I would have said, 'Take it."'Hanna said he shot the deer on Monday afternoon and was getting ready to come down from his tree stand when he was approached by three men with rifles. They ordered him to empty his rifle and throw his gun down and one of the men then knocked him to the ground, he said."It's an armed robbery and an assault," said Vernon Township Sgt. Randy Detzel. "They knocked him to the ground and took his deer."Police had no suspects.
PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu has a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee and will miss Sunday's game against Tampa Bay.Polamalu was hurt during a 27-0 loss Sunday at Baltimore, and the team initially felt the injury might be serious. Tests revealed a second-degree knee sprain, and coach Bill Cowher said Tuesday that surgery is not needed. The All-Pro safety has not missed a game to injury in his four NFL seasons. He received a concussion Nov. 12 against New Orleans and sat out most of the game, but returned to play at Cleveland the following week.Polamalu's injury leaves the Steelers without two of their best players for Tampa Bay. Wide receiver Hines Ward will miss one game and likely two after undergoing left knee surgery Monday to remove two bone fragments. The Steelers play two games in five days — Tampa Bay on Sunday and Cleveland on Dec. 7 — and the compact schedule may keep Ward out for an additional game.
