The Advanced Approach Spaasm girls volleyball team, which includes players ages 16 and under, recently won the 12-team Renaissance Tournament at South Fayette High School.

Team members include Butler's Becky Smith and Stephanie Mock, and Seneca Valley's Paige Banyas, Sarah Beals, Anna Homisky, Kellie Karasack and Cassie Kulp.

The Butler Catholic seventh- and eighth-grade boys basketball team won its second diocesan playoff game, defeating St. Bernadette 37-35.The Saints play Bishop Leonard/St. Mary of the Mount Academy in the semifinals at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Central Catholic High School.The championship game is at 4 p.m. Sunday at Central Catholic.
