Butler's John Aubrey, Sr. led a quartet of golfers to a first-place tie at the Pro-3 Amateur event at Tam O'Shanter Golf Club in Hermitage on Friday.

Aubrey's team, which included Bill Fragale, Greg Loverick and Frank Rice, shot a 130, tying it with a team from Fox Run Golf Club.

Individually, Aubrey placed second among the pros with a score of 70, one stroke behind Oak Tree Country Club's Dennis Dolci.

SAN FRANCISCO — Barry Bonds hit his 744th career home run Saturday, moving within 11 of Hank Aaron's record of 755.Bonds led off the second inning and sent the first pitch from Phillies starter Jon Lieber over the fence in center for his 10th homer of the year. Bonds connected for the fifth time in his career against Lieber.

Clemens returning to N.Y. YankeesNEW YORK — Roger Clemens returned to the New York Yankees, making a dramatic announcement to fans from the owner's box during Sunday's game against the Seattle Mariners.At the end of the seventh-inning stretch, Yankees public address announcer Bob Sheppard told fans to turn their attention to the box, where Clemens was standing with a microphone. As the video scoreboard in right-center showed Clemens, the seven-time Cy Young Award winner made the announcement himself.Clemens, who will turn 45 in August, agreed to a minor league contract. He hopes to be pitching in the major leagues by late May or June 1.Street Sense rallies to Ky. Derby victoryLOUISVILLE, Ky. — Street Sense roared from next-to-last in a 20-horse field to win the Kentucky Derby, putting trainer Carl Nafzger back in the winner's circle 17 years after his first visit.The colt broke two Derby jinxes to score the win under jockey Calvin Borel, who was 0-for-4 in the race.In beating Hard Spun by 2 1-2 lengths, Street Sense became the first Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner to return in the spring and win on the first Saturday in May, snapping an 0-for-23 skid. He was also the first 2-year-old champion to win the Derby since Spectacular Bid in 1979.Clijsters ends tennis career at age 23BRUSSELS, Belgium — Kim Clijsters ended her tennis career Sunday, cutting short plans to retire at the end of the season because of chronic injuries.The 23-year-old Belgian was once ranked No. 1 and winner of the 2005 U.S. Open and played for 10 years.
