The Butler Cubs 15-and-under AAUgirls basketball team recently won the Just Ballin Tournament in Jamestown, N.Y., defeating the host Lady Shooting Stars 57-50 in the title game.

Casie Cygan was named tournament MVP.

Last weekend, the Cubs won the Niagara Rapids Tournament in Niagara Falls, N.Y., defeating the Pittsburgh Dukes 30-28 in the title game. The Cubs outscored the Dukes 8-0 in the final two minutes to win.

Team members are Cygan, Ashley Campbell, Casey Fleeger, Laura Gray, Mallory Hidinger, Haley Hutterer, Maura McCaslin, Jenna McCorry, Katresa Savisky and Ali Sedwick.

The Slippery Rock Sliders game against Evansville, Ind., Tuesday night at Critchfield Park was postponed by rain.The Sliders and Otters will play a doubleheader beginning at 6:05 p.m. Wednesday. Derek Duclos and Jared Simon will be the Sliders' starting pitchers.All fans 14 and under will receive free admission when they bring the Troy-Alan Chevrolet-Sliders player advertisement that appeared in Friday's Slippery Rock Eagle and Sunday's Butler Eagle to the game.

Joe Scherer of Renfrew was the overall winner of the American Woods Racing Championship Series Harescramble recently in Boyers.Brett Zofchak of Washington, Pa., and J.T.Bennett of Allison Park finished second and third, respectively, in the PROClass.Other Butler County winners were Patrick McCaslin of West Sunbury in the XC-1Cclass and Dale Caldwell of Butler in the Senior C class.There were 98 riders competing in 14 classes for the Big Bikes at the event.

Jon Pratkanis of Butler carded a 6-under-par 138 to tie for second in the Dick's Sporting Goods Tri-State Amateur Championship held Tuesday at Tom's Run Golf Club in Blairsville.Mike Van Sickle won the 36-hole event with a 9-under-par 133. Pratkanis tied Ron DeNunzio for the runner-up spot.
