SLIPPERY ROCK — Zachary Sloan, a forward on the Moniteau High School boys basketball team, received the Most Improved Player Award recently at the Keystone State Invitational Basketball Camp held at Slippery Rock University.
CHAMPION — Butler resident Matt Maloy, 17, took fourth place at the Elks Youth Invitational Tournament of Champions golf event, held at Seven Springs Resort Monday and Tuesday.Maloy shot rounds of 78 and 76 for a final score of 154, the third-best performance among Pennsylvania golfers.
NEW CASTLE — Slippery Rock resident Jeff Tracy, 16, placed second at the Keystone Public Golf junior event at Mohawk Trails Golf Course Tuesday.Tracy fired a one-over-par 73, Grove City's Derek Forese shot a 74 and tied for third and Ryan Prokay, also of Grove City, managed a 75 and placed fifth.
GREENVILLE — Ryan Prokay of Grove City won the boys ages 15-and-16 division of the Tri-State PGAgolf tournament Monday at Greenville Country Club.Prokay shot a 74, beating out runner-up Derek Cowan by two strokes.
KITTANNING — The Zelienople Henchar Homes team of the Mid-County Pony baseball league will face the Kittanning Cubs in the second game of a best-of-3 championship series at 6 p.m. today at Kittanning's Pony Field.Zelie lost Game 1, 6-1.
