WEST VIEW— The 2007 Kings Family Restaurants Junior Golf Series schedule concludes Wednesday with the Junior Player of the Year Championship at Highland Country Club.

Youth golfers have accumulated points during series events and points are doubled for this event.

Butler County golfers contending for points championships include:

• John Hook of Cabot, currently first in boys ages 17-to-18 division with 405 points.

• Matt Vogt of Cranberry Township, fourth in boys 15-to-16 points with 174.

• Brett Rinker of Slippery Rock, third in boys age 14 points with 203.

• Jenna Rinker of Slippery Rock, first in girls 16-to-18 points with 458.

STATE COLLEGE — At the recent KPGA P.J. Boatwright State Championship at Penn State University, Grove City residents Ryan Prokay and Derek Forese each fired a 72 in the Boys Division B to tie for first place, but Prokay prevailed by winning a one-hole playoff.

HERMITAGE — Marissa DeCola, 13, of Center Township, placed second in the girls 14-and-under division with a score of 43 at the Tam O'Shanter Junior Golf Open Thursday.Her brother, Mark, 10, finished third in the boys 9-to-10 division by carding a 45.

INDIANAPOLIS — Grove City College swimmer Caleb Courage qualified for next summer's U.S. Olympic Trials in the 100-meter freestyle.Courage qualified by posting a time of 51.53 seconds in the preliminaries Tuesday at the USASwimming National Championships.Courage surpassed the Olympic Trials time standard of 51.59.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Preceding Sunday's Washington Wild Things-Slippery Rock Sliders baseball game at Critchfield Park, former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Jon Kolb will speaking at Fellowship Night.Kolb, of Grove City will talk about Christian values and basics of faith at 5:30 p.m. The game is slated to begin at 6:05 p.m.
