PITTSBURGH — University of Pittsburgh junior quarterback Bill Stull was named the team's starter by head coach Dave Wannstedt after the team's practice on Wednesday.

Stull was competing for the job with true freshman Pat Bostick and Seneca Valley graduate Kevan Smith, a redshirt freshman.

Pitt opens the 2007 season next Saturday at Heinz Field against Eastern Michigan.

FOXBURG — Jim Johnson, Paul Critchlow, Dale Shemelya and Warren Shurr teamed up to win the the 36th annual Muntz Open Golf Outing at the Foxburg Country Club recently.Proceeds from the event will go to the Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh in memory of Thomas Reese Sr. of the Monroe Hotel.The event was hosted by Glenn Ahrens of Butler.
