WEST MIDDLESEX — Travis Dickson of Treesdale Golf and Country Club tied for eighth place at the Tri-State PGA Professional Championship at Oak Tree Country Club Tuesday.
Dickson fired rounds of 71 and 69 to tie four others with a 140. Brad Westfall of Tygart Lake Golf Course won the event with a score of 130.
There were seven qualifying spots for the PGA National Championships June 19 to 22, 2008 at Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, Ga.
Dickson is the second alternate.
Ron Milanovich of St. Jude Golf Course tied for 17th with a 142, JohnAubrey Sr. of Aubrey's Dubbs Dred tied for 22nd (144) and Joe Boros of Treesdale tied for 33rd (146). There were 98 golfers in the field.
SLIPPERYROCK— Zac Cline pitched a four-hitter in securing his ninth win of the season Tuesday night as the Slippery Rock Sliders defeated Chillicothe (Ohio) 9-1 at Critchfield Park.Justin Drabek (20-4), son of former Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Doug Drabek, took the loss for the Paints. The Sliders (28-61) conclude their home schedule at 7:05 tonight vs. Chillicothe.
STATE COLLEGE— Butler graduate Tyrell Sales, a redshirt junior linebacker at Penn State University, will be in the starting lineup Saturday when the Nittany Lions open the season at Florida International.Sales will start at outside linebacker, replacing Dan Connor, who was moved to middle linebacker last spring.
