NEW CASTLE— Bill Kilgore and Homer Page of the Butler County Horseshoe League won their respective divisions at the Pennsylvania State Tournament last weekend.

Among other county players, Guy Rider was second, Ed Cypher, Bob McKee, Vern Schrecongost and Tom Brown third, and Butch Neff fifth in their respective divisions.

BUTLER TWP— Butler junior running back-defensive back Mason McLaughlin was named the first Butler Quarterback Club's Player of the Week.McLaughlin rushed for 49 yards and was among the Golden Tornado's leading defensive players against Kiski Area. The Quarterback Club will choose a winner of this weekly award based on performance, leadership, hustle and attitude.

SLIPPERY ROCK— Mars High graduate and Slippery Rock University men's soccer standout Steve Perri scored a goal and added two assists as The Rock defeated Salem International, 6-0 on Wednesday.
