SPRINGBORO, Ohio — Butler native Marissa DeCola shot a two-round score of 135 to win the girls 12-to-14 division on the Plantations Junior Golf Tour at Heatherwoode Golf Course over the weekend.
DeCola shot an 82 on Saturday and a 53 Sunday to win the tournament by two strokes.
KARNS CITY — Karns City junior midfielder-forward Aaron McGarvey and junior goalkeeper Josh Grenninger were named to the All-Upper Allegheny Valley League all-star team.McGarvey led the league in goals with 29 and recorded 17 assists.Grenninger tallied 12 shutouts.Senior defenders Charlie Beck, Jonathan Burns and senior forward Chris Harmon were named to the honorable mention team for the Gremlins.
SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock University women's soccer season came to an end Sunday with a 1-0 loss to West Chester in the second round of the NCAA DivisionII playoffs.The Rock mustered only four shots on goal in the loss. West Chester had nine.Sarah Oswald scored the only goal of the game in the 58th minute.SRU's 17-5-1 record is the best in school history.
