Karns City senior defensive end Cameron Turner was named CHAMPD9Sports.com District 9 Co-Defensive Player of the Year.

He joins Kane linebacker Ross Nicholson in securing that honor.

Turner had 73 tackles, 15 sacks and two interceptions for the 12-1 Gremlins, who won the District 9 Class championship. Nicholson had 146 tackles and 14 sacks for Kane.

DAVIE, Fla. — Bill Parcells signed a four-year contract Thursday to lead the Miami Dolphins' football operations, one day after turning down essentially the same role with the Atlanta Falcons.The two-time Super Bowl champion coach will report directly to Miami owner Wayne Huizenga, whose affinity for big-name help has led him to Parcells — a 66-year-old former coach of four NFL clubs who owns a home in South Florida and now has a job there, too.On Wednesday, the expectation around the league was that Parcells would take over in Atlanta, with even some reports saying the deal was done. By the afternoon, however, the deal had fallen apart and the Dolphins moved quickly to get Parcells to sign a contract.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State backup cornerback Eugene Clifford will not play in the BCS championship game against LSU after being suspended for an undisclosed violation of team rules.Columbus station WCMH-TV and The Columbus Dispatch reported earlier Thursday that Clifford, a freshman, and starting cornerback Donald Washington had both been suspended for the game on Jan. 7 in New Orleans.The school released a statement later stating only Clifford would be suspended.
