ERIE — Cory Poston of the Butler County Bowling Association leads the singles handicapped division two weeks into the Pennsylvania State Bowling Association men's tournament.

Poston rolled a three-game handicapped series of 796. He is third in all-events handicapped with a 2,206, trailing Jarrid Magalich (2,348) of Laurel Highlands and Joe Switzer (2,228) of Butler County.

The tournament runs through the first weekend of June.

Racing column moved to Fridays

Eagle racing writer Carol Gamble's column, which previously appeared on Wednesdays, will move to Fridays starting this week.

ADAMS TWP— Matthew Ferraro, a second grader at Mars Elementary School, qualified for the Mid-Atlantic Wrestling Association's Eastern Nationals May 3 and 4 in Salisbury, Md.Ferraro qualified in the Bantam (born in 2000 or later) 52-pound division by placing in the top three at a district tournament at North Allegheny, then among the top four at the West Regional at Shippensburg.

SLIPPERY ROCK — For the third consecutive season, the Slippery Rock University men's club lacrosse team has made the national playoffs.The Pride, which is ranked No. 2 in Division II, is 9-2 overall after posting a 7-1 record in the National Collegiate Lacrosse League's Midwest North Division.Tiger undergoes knee surgeryTiger Woods had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Tuesday to repair cartilage damage, his second operation in five years on the same knee. He is expected to miss at least a month while he recovers.The surgery, announced on his Web site, came two days after Woods finished three shots behind Trevor Immelman in the Masters. He most likely will miss The Players Championship, but should return in time to play the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines June 12.

ASHVILLE, Ohio — Jenna Rinker of Slippery Rock finished first in the girls ages 15-to-19 division at the Plantations Junior Golf Tour event April 12 and 13 at Cook's Creek Golf Club.Rinker carded a 76-74-150, winning by 14 strokes in the 36-hole event.
