LATROBE — The Tri-State PGA and Western Pennsylvania Golf Association battled to an 8Z\x-8Z\x draw in the 2008 Palmer Cup, held Wednesday at Latrobe Country Club.

Area golfers winning singles matches included John Aubrey of Aubrey's Dubbs Dred, Sean Knapp of St. Jude Golf Club and Jon Pratkanis of Butler.

PITTSBURGH — Ben Horner, a Butler graduate and a sophomore midfielder on the Duquesne University men's soccer team, was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week and a member of the College Soccer News national team of the week.Horner was named MVPof the recent Duquesne Invitational, scoring six points in two games. He had the game-winning goal in one game and scored the game-tying goal on a penalty kick in another.
