CABOT— Winners of the Cabot Knights of Columbus annual free-throw championship have been announced.

Winners are 10-year-old Domenic Bucko of Butler and Mikayla Burtner of Butler, 11-year-old Jeremiah Frazier of Butler and Kelsey Wetzel of Butler, 12-year-old Joel Zacherl of Saxonburg and Christina Grzybek of Gibsonia, 13-year-old Joe Hutchinson of Saxonburg and Samantha Logan of Cabot, and 14-year-old Steffan Carlsson of Butler and Dana Hinchberger of Sarver.

The champions will compete in the Knights of Columbus 95th District competition Feb. 21.

STATE COLLEGE — Penn State has finalized its 2009 football schedule, which includes visits from Big Ten rivals Iowa, Minnesota and Ohio State.The Nov. 7 meeting against the Buckeyes will be the 300th game in the 49-year history of Beaver Stadium.Penn State will visit conference foes Illinois, Northwestern, Michigan and Michigan State.But the Nittany Lions have a relatively weak nonconference slate, starting with the season opener Sept. 5 versus Akron.Syracuse, Temple and FCS school Eastern Illinois also will visit Happy Valley.Penn State figures to be one of the favorites again in the Big Ten, though the strength of schedule could factor into whether the Nittany Lions are serious national title contenders.
