MERIDIAN — Mike Visconti of Butler shot a 1-under-par 35 Thursday on the Krendale West golf course.

Visconti birdied holes 6, 7 and 8 during the round, while playing in the American Legion Post 3778 League. He scored an eagle on the No. 7 hole last year.

JACKSON TWP — Seneca Valley senior setter Mark Demarco was among the top 40 Class AAA boys volleyball players in the state as selected by the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association.

PITTSBURGH — Offensive lineman Kraig Urbik, the first of the Pittsburgh Steelers' three third-round draft picks, signed a three-year contract.The Steelers have eight of their nine picks under contract after signing Urbik on Monday. Their only unsigned draft choice is first-rounder Ziggy Hood, a defensive end from Missouri.
