LOWER BURRELL — Matt Vogt of Cranberry Township placed second with a 1-under 70 at the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association Amateur qualifying round Monday at Hill Crest Country Club.

Vogt was two strokes behind winner Ryan Castanet of McDonald as the duo were the only two to break par.

Rob Voltz of Butler tied for 13th place and was one of 15 qualifiers to advance. Two alternates also were taken.

John Hook of Cabot (78) and Joseph Boros of Saxonburg (90) did not make the cut.

ELIZABETH — Jenna Rinker, a senior at Slippery Rock High, fired a 78 to capture first place in her age division at the King's Family Tournament at the Butler's Golf Course.

NEW CASTLE — Joe Boros of Treesdale Golf and Country Club and Nathan Smith, an amateur who is a member of St. Jude Golf Club, tied for third place with scores of 142 at the GC Supply Inc. Tri-State Open Monday at New Castle Country Club.John Aber (137) and Roy Vucinich (140) of Allegheny Country Club finished first and second, respectively, while Rob McClellan of Butler Country Club tied for fifth (143) and John Aubrey Sr. of Aubrey's Dubbs Dred tied for 12th (145).Smith finished first in the amateur event while Aubrey tied for third in the senior event.
