Brett Favre recently had arthroscopic surgery on his ailing right shoulder, ESPN reported Sunday night, another indication the three-time NFL MVP is considering coming out of retirement.
ESPN, citing two anonymous sources, reported that Favre had surgery last month to repair the torn biceps tendon that bothered him late last season with the New York Jets.
According to the report, Favre has thrown on a limited basis since the surgery, but isn't close to 100 percent. A source told ESPN the quarterback wouldn't return "unless he makes significant progress."
INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA met with Memphis officials Saturday to discuss major violations and the school must now wait at least six weeks for a ruling on whether its 38 wins from the 2007-08 season will count.The most serious allegation was whether an unknown person took the SAT exam for a player.The NCAA has said the athlete in question played for the Tigers for only the 2007-08 season and the 2008 NCAA tournament. The only person who fits the description in documents is Derrick Rose, the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft after that season.
AUSTIN, Texas — The best small high school track team in Texas is once again a freckle-faced girl named Bonnie Richardson.Richardson, the valedictorian of her 59-student class in the tiny farming town of Rochelle, — and the lone girl competing in track and field at the school, won the Class A team state title Saturday for the second consecutive year.She won the gold in the long jump and high jump, took silver in the discus and bronze in the 200 meters. She also finished fourth in the 100 meters.
