JACKSON TWP — The Seneca Valley Athletic Hall of Fame will induct six new members during a banquet at the high school Sept. 11.

The Class of 2010 includes Dennis Stewart, Amanda Smith, Jose Raymundo, Lynett McBride, Charles Stevens and Tom Heckendorn.

The group will also be recognized at the varsity football game against Fox Chapel on Sept. 10.

UPPER ST. CLAIR — Butler Country Club golf professional Rob McClellan took second place at the West Penn Open Championship after shooting a three-under par 69 Tuesday at St. Clair Country Club.McClellan totaled 139 strokes in the two-day event and finished two strokes behind Kevin Shields (70-67-137).

HOUSTON — Houston Rockets All-Star center Yao Ming is confident that he'll be ready for the start of the regular season after a team doctor declared his surgically repaired foot fully healed.Yao missed last season after undergoing complex surgery on his left foot in July 2009. Team doctor Tom Clanton has cleared Yao to resume basketball activities.

DETROIT — Johnny Damon is staying in Detroit.The 36-year-old outfielder decided to pass up a chance to return to the Boston Red Sox, rejecting their waiver claim and choosing to remain with the Tigers."These guys really like me here," Damon said, adding he spoke to each of his teammates individually to be sure he was wanted in the Tigers' clubhouse.

CINCINNATI — The NFL fined Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco $25,000 for the timing of his tweets.The league said that Ochocinco's messages appeared on his Twitter page during a prohibited time at the Bengals-Eagles preseason game on Friday night.
