PITTSBURGH — Butler High School receiver-defensive back David Hohn will play in the Northern Area All-Star Classic at 1 p.m. Saturday at Cupples Stadium on Pittsburgh's South Side.

Golden Tornado linebackers Cole Baxter and Matt Pribis, along with lineman Adam Steiner, were invited to play, but declined.

Hohn will play for the Northern Area All-Stars against the Pittsburgh All-Stars.

Tickets for the game are $5 and will be available at the gate.

BUTLER TWP — The Butler County Community College women's basketball team defeated CCAC-Boyce, 66-43, Tuesday night.Katresa Savisky scored 23 points for the Pioneers (1-1, 1-0), who host Pitt-Titusville at 5 p.m. Dec. 3.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Former Cranberry Township resident Mike Weber logged 11 minutes of ice time for the Buffalo Sabres in their 1-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins Wednesday night.Weber, 22, was a second-round draft choice of the Sabres in 2006. The defenseman played in his third game with Buffalo this season and the 26th game of his NHL career.

SLIPPERY ROCK — The preliminary hearing for Slippery Rock University sophomore running back Akeem Satterfield, scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, was postponed until Dec. 29.Satterfield, who rushed for 1,300 yards and 20 touchdowns this season, faces multiple charges following an altercation after an on-campus dance last weekend.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Royals have asked unconditional release waivers on Bryan Bullington, allowing the right-hander to sign with the Hiroshima Toyo Carp of Japan's Central League.The 30-year-old Bullington was 1-4 with a 6.12 ERA in five starts and eight relief appearances for Kansas City.Bullington was pitcher of the year at Triple-A Omaha, going 8-2 with a 2.82 ERA in 15 starts and five relief appearances.

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Pirates have traded left-hander Zach Duke to the Arizona Diamondbacks for a player to be named.After designating Duke for assignment on Friday, the Pirates had 10 days to trade or release him. Duke was 8-15 with a 5.72 ERA in 29 starts last season. He has allowed 443 hits over the last two seasons, the sixth most in the majors.Duke is 37-68 with a 4.80 ERA since debuting with an 8-2 record and 1.81 ERA in 2005. The Pirates projected he might be awarded as much as $6 million.

ASHBURN, Va. — Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis was placed on injured reserve Thursday because of a torn muscle in his lower abdomen.
