PITTSBURGH — Two days after claiming him off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels, the Pittsburgh Pirates added reliever Hisanori Takahashi to the active roster before Sunday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Pittsburgh placed right-handed reliever Chad Qualls on the disabled list due to irritation of his left big toe.

Takahashi gives the Pirates a second left-hander in the bullpen for the stretch drive, joining Tony Watson. He had a 4.93 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 42 innings over 42 games for the Angels.

Pirates outfielder Jose Tabata and pitcher Jeff Karstens left Saturday's game due to groin/hip injuries.

Tabata was not in the lineup Sunday, but will not go on the disabled list. General manager Neal Huntington said he and Karstens are considered day to day.

LOS ANGELES — Vin Scully is sticking around another season to broadcast Los Angeles Dodgers games.The 84-year-old Hall of Fame broadcaster will return for a record 64th season in 2013.

SEATTLE — Terrell Owens' NFL return lasted less than three weeks.Owens was released by the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, part of the league-mandated roster reductions from 90 to 75 players.

TAMPA, Fla. — The challenge of rebounding from a disappointing season has gotten a little tougher for the youthful Tampa Bay Buccaneers.Two-time Pro Bowl guard Davin Joseph tore the patellar tendon in his right knee during a preseason victory over New England and will miss the regular season after knee surgery on Monday.

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis' bruised defense finally got some help Sunday.Four days after team owner Jim Irsay ignited speculation about a possible trade with a series of Twitter posts, the Colts nabbed former first-round draft pick Vontae Davis to solidify their secondary.Miami will get Indy's second-round pick and a conditional, undisclosed late-round pick in the 2013 draft — a steep price for a veteran cornerback who recently lost his starting job, but one the Colts found reasonable.

SEATTLE — Rookie Russell Wilson has earned the Seattle Seahawks' starting quarterback job.That was the word from coach Pete Carroll on Sunday night after he announced that the third-round pick from Wisconsin will start when the regular season begins Sept. 9 at Arizona.

DENVER — Peyton Manning was magnificent in his final regular-season tuneup Sunday, throwing his first two touchdown passes for the Denver Broncos in a 29-24 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.Manning completed 10 of 12 passes for 122 yards, including TD tosses of 10 and 5 yards to Eric Decker.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A person familiar with discussions has told The Associated Press that the Buffalo Bills have tentatively agreed to acquire quarterback Tarvaris Jackson in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks.

HOUSTON — Houston Texans coach Gary Kubiak says rookie kicker Randy Bullock is out for the season after tearing a muscle near his groin.Bullock, a fifth-round draft pick out of Texas A&M, and was competing with veteran Shayne Graham. Bullock was 3 for 4 on field goals and Graham has gone 5 for 5 in the preseason.

BALTIMORE — Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista is back on the 15-day disabled list, saddled with the same injury that kept him sidelined for 5½ weeks before his short-lived return on Friday.
