BUFFALO TWP — Freeport standout running back/linebacker Damon Smith will miss the remainder of the football season with a torn lateral collateral ligament (LCL) in his knee, according to teammates.
Smith finishes the season with 403 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 83 carries. On the defensive side of the ball, he recorded 43 tackles and forced a fumble.
Last year, Smith led the Yellowjackets with 1,381 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns.
Freeport coach John Gaillot could not be reached for comment.
BUTLER TWP — Ken McElwain, Kevin English, Rich King, Bob Cupp and the late Jim Charlton will be inducted into the Butler County Bowling Association Hall of Fame during a banquet at 6 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Butler Days Inn.The inductions will swell the Hall’s membership to 40. The BCBA Hall of Fame’s first inductions were done in 1995 and this year marks its largest induction class.
