CINCINNATI — The Reds and manager Dusty Baker have agreed to a two-year contract extension.

The Reds said a formal announcement will be made Monday afternoon.

The 63-year-old manager led the team to its second National League Central Division title in three seasons this year. He has been with the Reds five seasons.

SAN FRANCISCO — Tim Lincecum is set to start Game 4 of the NL championship series for the San Francisco Giants on Thursday.Manager Bruce Bochy said before the game that Lincecum told him he felt fine to pitch again Monday after throwing two hitless innings in Sunday night's 6-4 Game 1 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.

ALLEN PARK, Mich. — Detroit Lions running back Jahvid Best is still not cleared to play after spending the first six weeks of the season on the physically unable to perform list.Detroit general manager Martin Mayhew says in a statement Monday that Best will not be permitted to return at this time, but the running back will continue to work with the team's medical and training staffs in the hope that he'll be cleared to play at some point.Best hasn't played since last October because of concussion problems.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — NASCAR and Fox announced an eight-year, $2.4 billion extension Monday that runs through 2022 and keeps the prestigious Daytona 500 and first third of the Sprint Cup Series on the network.The deal begins in 2015. The $300 million average annual fee is up from the $225 million Fox has been currently paying.
