• Five Butler County area football teams will be in playoff action Friday and Saturday:

• Seneca Valley will play Mt. Lebanon at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the second round of the WPIAL Class AAAA playoffs. A site is yet to be determined.

• Mars will take on West Mifflin at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the second round of the WPIAL Class AAA playoffs. A site is yet to be determined.

• Karns City will host St. Marys at 7 p.m. Friday in the first round of the District 9 Class AA playoffs.

• Union will host Elk County Catholic at 7 p.m. Friday in the first round of the District 9 Class A playoffs.

• Grove City will battle North East at 7 p.m. Saturday in the first round of the District 10 Class AA playoffs at Slippery Rock University.

• Slippery Rock received a first-round bye in the District 10 Class AAA playoffs and will play the winner of General McLane-Oil City Nov. 16 or 17.

Several area soccer and volleyball teams will be in action Tuesday in the PIAA playoffs:The WPIAL champion Mars volleyball team will take on Indiana at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the first round of the PIAA Class AA playoffs at North Allegheny.The WPIAL champion Mars girls soccer team will tangle with Clearfield at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the first round of the PIAA Class AA playoffs at North Allegheny.The District 9 champion Karns City girls soccer team will battle WPIAL champion Greensburg Central Catholic at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the first round of the PIAA Class A playoffs at Hampton.The Seneca Valley girls soccer team will play District 6 champ State College at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the first round of the PIAA Class AAA playoffs at Central Mountain High School.The Mars boys soccer team will take on District 5 champion Bedford at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the first round of the PIAA Class AA tournament at Northern Bedford High School.
