BUFFALO TWP — The Firecracker 100's $6,000-to-win, 30-lap A-Main late model event at Lernerville Speedway was postponed Friday due to heavy rain.
The action will resume Saturday, with gates opening at 11:30 a.m. Time trials will begin at noon, heat races at 1 p.m.
The Saturday afternoon show will be a separate admission from the Firecracker 100 main event. If the afternoon show cannot take place due to rain or wet grounds, the Firecracker 100 will remain as scheduled Saturday night.
The postponed Friday race would then become its own separate show at 4 p.m. Sunday.

SLIPPERY ROCK — The United States Tennis Association has awarded the Slippery Rock University Foundation a $4,000 grant for the university's Adapted Physical Activity program and Therapeutic Recreation programs.During its 2013 spring funding cycle, the USTA has granted 38 community tennis organizations and other foundations more than $324,723 in grants.SRU's program enables undergraduate students to work with individuals with disabilities in numerous physical activities, including tennis.
PITTSBURGH — Cranberry Township’s Jake Smithco finished tied for second after carding a 75 (37-38) at Friday’s West Penn Boys 14-15 Championship, held at South Hills Country Club. He was matched by Alec Stopperich. Winning the event was Jake Sollon with a 72.
