MINNEAPOLIS — Josh Freeman is headed to Minnesota.
Freeman's agent, Erik Burkhardt, revealed the move in an exclamatory one-word tweet about his client Sunday night: “Vikings!!!” Burkhardt then confirmed to The Associated Press in a phone interview that the 25-year-old quarterback agreed to a deal.
This became quite the bye week for the Vikings (1-3), who took a big step away from Christian Ponder by giving Freeman a $3 million contract for the rest of the season. Freeman was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday, a week after being benched in favor of rookie Mike Glennon.

HOUSTON — Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti fractured two vertebrae and broke his right ankle when his car went airborne into a fence on the last lap of the Grand Prix of Houston. The accident showered debris into the grandstand, injuring 13 fans and an IndyCar Series official.Franchitti, who also sustained a concussion, was transported by ambulance to a hospital. MOSCOW — Russian President Vladimir Putin ceremoniously lit the Olympic flame on Red Square, but the four-month relay to Sochi for the Winter Games got off to a rocky start when one of the torches went out.The Olympic flame, which was lit a week ago in Greece and flown to Moscow, kept burning in a cauldron on Red Square.
