SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University has received the No. 6 seed in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional women's tennis tournament.

The Rock (13-12) faces third-seeded West Virginia State (13-5) in the opening round Saturday at Indiana (Pa.) University. No. 2 seed IUP (17-9) faces seventh-seeded Chowan, N.C. (23-7) Saturday.

The winners will meet Sunday.

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament taking place at Kelly Automotive Park this week has been switched to single-elimination.Wednesday's schedule was rained out and will be played at the same times today. Slippery Rock will face Millersville at 12:30 p.m., following this morning's Mercyhurst-West Chester game.Bloomsburg plays Pitt-Johnstown at 3:30 p.m. and Kutztown faces Seton Hill at 6:30 p.m. Semifinal games will be at noon and 3 p.m. Friday, the title game at noon Saturday.

Slippery Rock University senior lacrosse players Morgan Pettit and Kaitlyn Hafdell were both named third team all conference Wednesday, the first time The Rock has had two players make the team since 2012.Pettit scored a team-high 68 points, including 57 goals. Hafdell caused 18 turnovers and led the team with 42 ground balls.
