The Outdoor Discovery Series sponsored by the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department will feature "Animal Traces" at 7 p.m. today at the Carousel Shelter at Alameda Park, off New Castle Road. Moraine State Park will be the site of "Discover Lake Arthur" at 10 a.m. Saturday. Meet the park naturalist at the Davis Hollow public boat launch on the North Shore to paddle the lakeshore and see Moraine from a different view. "Bluebirds – The Fledgling Experience" will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday. Meet at Pavilion 7 at the McDanel's Launch on the North Shore. Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528 near the intersection of routes 8 and 173, Slippery Rock, is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and on weekends as scheduled. The trails are open daily from sunrise to sunset. Call 724-794-6011 to confirm programs.
<B>McConnells Mill State Park</B>, Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, will be the site of Summer 2009 Heart Hikes, led by a park naturalist, including: Geology of Slippery Rock Gorge at 2 p.m. Saturday, iConserve on July 4, The Big Trees on July 25, Geology & Industrial History on Aug. 9, Hike Along the Millstream on Aug. 23, and the Slippery Rock Gorge Trail Hike on Aug. 30.
