SLIPPERY ROCK — The Old Stone House will be the site of a Civil War Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, with the 10th Pennsylvania Reserve Re-enactors.

Admission is free. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Activities will include a complete living history encampment, soldier competitions and battle re-enactments.

Scheduled events include a "kids militia" in which children can have a safe and educational experience by participating in militia training and battle tactics used in the Civil War.

Living history interpreters will offer demonstrations of cooking, blacksmithing, children's games and music. Special presentations will also emphasize the role of women ¿ especially those known as "lady spies."

The Old Stone House, at the at the intersection of Routes 8, 528 and 173, will be open for guided tours, and food concessions will be available.

PITTSBURGH — Music in a Great Space, the concert series at Shadyside Presbyterian Church, will present organist J. Christopher Pardini performing selected works of Felix Mendelssohn at 4 p.m. Sept. 20.Pardini will perform the second of two concerts designed to present Mendelssohn's complete organ works.
