'Broadway' opens series at SRU

Carter Calvert, who originated her role in the Tony-nominated Broadway musical "It Ain't Nothin' But the Blues," is a performer with "Neil Berg's 100 Years of Broadway," which is coming to Slippery Rock University. This show featuring multiple performers at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 11 kicks off SRU's Performing Arts Series.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University's four-program Performing Arts Series will open with "Neil Berg's 100 Years of Broadway" on Sept. 11 in Miller Auditorium on campus.

The production will include multiple performers in numbers from "Chicago," "Jekyll and Hyde," "Phantom of the Opera," "South Pacific," "Grease," "Man of La Mancha," "My Fair Lady," "Annie Get Your Gun" and "Rent," among others.

Individual tickets to this Broadway songfest are $22 for adults, $20 for seniors age 62 and older and youth age 17 and younger, and $8 for SRU students. Tickets may be ordered by calling 724-738-2018.

Tickets are available for the entire series, including former "American Idol Stars" on Dec. 12; The River North Chicago Dance Company on Feb. 5, and Barrage Animado, a high-octane fiddle-fest, on March 20.

Individual tickets for the latter three events go on sale Sept. 30.

Season tickets for the four-event series are $74 for adults; $66 for those 62 and older, or 17 and younger; and $28 for SRU students.
