Fight the Flow becomes These Three Words

The first CD from the newly renamed band now called These Three Words is titled "Sanctuary." A CD release party is planned for Oct. 24 at the Meridian Veterans Club.

The Saxonburg-area band that used to "Fight the Flow" will now try to use "These Three Words" as a springboard to bigger things. A new CD is the first step.

The indie rock group that's changed its name is made up of Karter Schachner on guitar and vocals, Johnny Tomaszewski on bass and vocals, Dave Pawlowski on guitar, and Mike Law on drums.

"The name These Three Words is basically talking about the subtlety of things people say. Three simple words can mean a lot to somebody," said Schachner, a Knoch High School senior.

So the actual three words are left up to each person to choose.

"It's up to the individual to interpret," he said. "We just wanted something we thought people would take more seriously."

Their professionally produced CD is called "Sanctuary" and features six songs, all original: "Apollo Fell," "Kid, You'll Move Mountains," "It's Not Levitation, It's Aviation," "You're Only an Amateur in Mind Control," "John Doe, Is That a Family Name?" and "Steady Hands."

A CD release event is planned for Oct 24 at the Meridian Vets Club and will include a number of popular bands from the Butler and Pittsburgh area, including Ten Count Fall, Spacepimps, You the Symphony, Please and Thank You, and When Stars Align.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and music starts at 6 p.m. Admission is $8 in advance or $10 at door.

"Basically we hope to get a ton of people there (at the release party) and hopefully be just as good if not better than some of the bands playing there," Schachner said. "I personally hope to get attention from record labels and hope to get signed ... We've never produced anything of this quality before."

The band is also scheduled to perform at Lamapalooza on Friday at Mars Middle School. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. An admission fee will be charged.
