Going for 'The Green' show planned

Recycled bottle caps were used by Stevo Sadvary to create the 2009 entry "Gatorade Parade" for "The Green Show" at The Art Center. Artists have until April 3 to submit entries for this year's show.

The Associated Artists of Butler County will host "The Green Show," the second such event, from April 9 to 30 at The Art Center, 344 S. Main St.

Open to all artists, this will be a nonjuried show with cash awards distributed at the opening night reception, 7 to 9 p.m. April 9 at The Art Center.

Cash awards equal to one-third of the total art entry fees will be awarded for Best of Show and First Place in each of the following categories:

• Painting — oil, acrylic and watercolor

• Drawing — pencil, pen and ink, pastels

• Photography and digital art

• Mixed media and collage

• 3D — sculpture, fiber art and ceramics

The entry fee is $5 per entry for nonmembers and $4 per entry for members, with no limit on the number of entries per artist. Entry forms and gallery labels are available at The Art Center. Artists have until April 3 to submit entries.

The theme for this exhibit is anything "green" — artwork with predominantly green colors; art related to "greening the environment" or recycling or reuse; art created with natural or salvaged materials; or art commenting on climate change.

The exhibit will run through April 30 during regular operating hours of noon to 6 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, noon to 9 p.m. Fridays, and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays. Call 724-283-6922.
