Moraine State Park will be the site of "Bats in Action" at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church on the shores of Lake Arthur along Route 528. Nature watch kayaking is planned for 10:30 a.m. Saturday from the Old Route 422 launch area. And a learn to kayak class will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Pleasant Valley Launch on the South Shore; registration is required and the fee is $10 per person. Call 724-368-8811.

REGIONMcConnells Mill State Park in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, is open from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Fridays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. A program on native plants for your garden is set for 2 p.m. Sunday. Meet the master gardeners beside the mill. Interpretive tours of the historic mill last about 45 minutes and are available at 1 and 2 p.m. Fridays and 1 and 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The old mill is open through Labor Day.
