Old Stone House will host "Spooky Stories" and Halloween festivities from 5 to 8 p.m. today and Friday at the historic house on Route 8 north of Butler, near the intersection with Route 173. The traditional program will offer interactive storytelling, historical reenactments and paranormal investigation. A "Haunted Trail" set up behind the house will feature a walk through the transformed woods where ghosts and goblins may lurk. The event tonight will also feature a costume contest. Participants can register on site from 5 to 7 p.m.; judging will be at 7 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for first and second places. Visit the website, www.oldstonehousePA.org.

<B>Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens</B>, One Schenley Park, has acquired a rare corpse flower and will display it over Halloween weekend. The plant, native to Sumatra, has a 21-pound corm and a single, 8 foot tall and 8 foot wide leaf. "The Fall Flower Show: Gothic Gardens in Autumn" featuring a garden railroad, mythic creatures and chrysanthemums, continues through Nov. 7. Halloween Happenings is planned for 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, when guests can take their children dressed in costume for a variety of Halloween activities free with paid admission. Fall Fridays will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Nov. 5 with appetizers and beverages available. Docent-led tours are free with general admission. Phipps is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays until 10 p.m. Admission is $12 for adults; $11 for senior citizens age 62 and older and students with valid ID; $9 for children ages 2 to 18; and free for children younger than 2.
