The Old Stone House will be the starting and ending point of guided hikes at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon Saturday. The hikes commemorate George Washington’s travels through Butler County in 1753. To reserve a hiking slot, call Jennifer Melnick at Slippery Rock University, 724-738-4964. Admission is $5 per person and $12 per family. The Old Stone House opens at 9:30 a.m. The event includes refreshments, tours of the Old Stone House and a chance to discuss the mission with re-enactors portraying Washington and his frontiersman guide, Christopher Gist.
Flashlight Candy Cane Hunt along with music by Divine Ridge is planned for the annual Light Up Night of Alameda Park at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the park off New Castle Road. Cost is $5 per child. Registration is required by calling 724-284-5383.
