Elizabeth 'Betty' Stillwagon
Elizabeth “Betty” Stillwagon, 92, of Butler died Sunday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
Born March 2, 1921, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Florence and Harriett Isabella.
Betty was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler, the Ladies Guild at St. Paul and the Red Hat Society. She was a homemaker and mother who enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking, doing lawn work and was known as the neighborhood prayer person. She was a volunteer at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for 14 years, made holiday food for shut-ins and made cookies to donate for the active troops in the military.
Surviving are her son, John P. Stillwagon and his wife, Mary Louise, of Cranberry Township; two grandchildren, Shannon Rae Stillwagon of Durham, N.C., and John Matthew Stillwagon of Martinsburg, W.Va.; and two sisters, Irene Ferraro of Mars and Shirley Isabella of Monroeville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Stillwagon, who she married Aug. 26, 1945, and who died March 24, 1998; two brothers, John and Paul; and two sisters, Kate and Regina.
STILLWAGON — Friends of Elizabeth “Betty” Stillwagon, who died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler.Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Calvary Cemetery, Butler.St. Paul's Catholic Women and Christian Mothers will meet at 9:40 a.m. Thursday at the church to recite the rosary.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
