The Underground Gallery at The Art Center, 344 S. Main St., will host two upcoming musical events, one for the opening of “The Second Gothic Show” on Friday.

“The Gothic Show” highlights artwork inspired by Gothic literature such as that by Edgar Allan Poe, Mary Shelley and other writers. Pieces include oil paintings, pen and ink drawings, pastel works, mixed media and a few pieces that are made out of glass that light up.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. Friday with entertainment beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is $5 at the door. Patrons are encouraged to dress in Gothic (Victorian to modern) styles.

Performing will be Sam Stuckey, Carter & Sean and Tiffany Apan.

“The Second Gothic Show” continues through Feb. 11.

The second musical event will be hosted by Charles Ernst on Jan. 28 to benefit the American Cancer Society.

This event will open its doors at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 28 in the Underground Gallery. Admission is $5 at the door.

The show will begin at 6 p.m. and feature six local acts: acoustic rock by Madilyn and hardcore rock by Ninjas Eat Their Notes, We The Gathered, KamiKabe, Once Mighty Giants and Ursus.
