Vo-tech receives Best Buy award
BUTLER TWP — The Butler County Vocational-Technical School has received a $2,000 Teach Award from Best Buy.
The award was given to the culinary arts program for technology. Lu Ann Stillwagon, culinary arts instructor, said she has used the money to buy digital cameras, digital picture frames, and a digital camcorder.
She said the equipment will enhance the student portfolios for their applications to jobs and colleges. The picture frames will be in the dining room to show guests how their food was prepared, she said.
Stillwagon said Best Buy officials said she is the first in the county to get the award.
This is the sixth year of the program. Similar awards were given to 1,300 schools for using interactive technology in their curriculums.
