The Butler County Symphony Orchestra opens its 63rd season with “A Night of Beethoven” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Butler Intermediate High School auditorium.

The featured selection will be Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 8” in F. Other selections include “Egmont Overture” and “Romance for Violin and Orchestra,” featuring the new concertmaster, Elisa Wicks.

To add color to the concert, Phillip Ball, theatrical productions veteran, will portray the character of Beethoven during the evening performance. He will comment on the pieces being performed.

The guest conductor will be Thomas Hong, a candidate for the open position of music director and conductor. He is one of three guest conductors for the season. Hong is in his third year as assistant conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony and conducts numerous classical, community, education and pops concerts.
