The Youngs in 1958

John and Rita Young of Butler, formerly of Chicora, celebrated 50 years of marriage with a Mass at Saint Andrew Roman Catholic Church, followed by a gathering at their home. They also took a family trip to Niagara Falls with their family.

Young married the former Rita Cypher on Aug. 23, 1958, at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Cabot.

They have five children, Gerald Young of Tisch Mills, Wis.; Michael Young of Wrightston, Wis.; Liesa Jackson of Butler; John Young of Layton, Utah, and Christine Karpinski of Greenville.

They also have five grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

Young is retired from Penreco, where he worked for 43 years. His hobbies include golfing, traveling and gardening.

Mrs. Young is a homemaker. She enjoys gardening, painting and traveling.

The Youngs belong to Saint Andrew Roman Catholic Church.
