A few outdoor programs are left for the season at Moraine and McConnells Mill state parks.

• Washington’s Trail 1753 re-enactment hikes will be held Nov. 26 starting at McDanel’s Launch Pavilion 7 on the North Shore of Moraine State Park.

Commemorate George Washington’s travels with a hike accompanied by re-enactors of the French and Indian War era. The one-mile guided hike is over moderate terrain.

Harmony Museum, the Old Stone House, and Washington’s Trail 1753 are co-sponsoring this event.

Reservations are available for 10 a.m., 11 a.m. or noon hikes by calling the Harmony Museum at 724-452-7341. Cost is $5 per person, $12 per family, or $15 for groups of five or more, payable at the event.

• A first day hike is set for 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 1 from McDanel’s Launch Pavilion 7. The Butler Outdoor Club will host a hike of about two miles over moderate terrain.

• A traditional Christmas open house is planned for 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 3 at the gristmill at McConnells Mill State Park in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.

Craft homemade Christmas ornaments from natural materials and enjoy a different view of the mill in the winter season, complete with hot chocolate and cookies. Call 724-368-8811.
