SR students repeat as Shakespeare winners
Slippery Rock Middle School students Emily Appel and Dominic Skeele receive their award in this year's Shakespeare Monologue & Scene Contest from judges Gretchen Egolf, left, and Ted Pappas.
Emily Appel and Dominic Skeele have once again captured top honors in the annual Shakespeare Monologue & Scene Contest, hosted by the Pittsburgh Public Theater.
The Slippery Rock Middle School students won Best Scene in the lower division, just as the pair did last year. The finals took place Monday at the theater, 621 Penn Ave., Pittsburgh.
Their prize is “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare” plus a subscription to Pittsburgh Public Theater’s 2012-13 season.
Students from the South Butler and Seneca Valley school districts also competed. More than 1,100 students in grades four through 12 took part in the contest’s upper and lower divisions.
