Exhibit features nearly 30 artists
Nearly 30 artists are set to participate in the Associated Artists of Butler County “Make It Green” exhibit opening Friday evening at The Art Center.
An opening reception is planned for 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Admission is free, and light refreshments will be served.
The general theme of the exhibit is “anything green.” Artwork generally can be a predominantly green color scheme, art created with salvaged or natural materials, or art making a social comment on climate.
Half of all entry fees will be given out as cash awards.
Participating artists hail from near and far, places like Stoneboro and North East, Pa., Pittsburgh and Punxsutawney.
The artists are:
Claire Vimala Anderson, Terry Hagen, Cheri Newcomb, Tom Sheehan, Keith Shorr, D. Arian Smith and Eileen Stroup, all of Butler;
Erin Bressler and Lauren Strahl, both of Slippery Rock; Duane Cacali, Emily Kuhs and Linton Pitluga, all of Cranberry Township; Liz Carpenter and Ivy Kuhrman, both of Mars; Jill Eudaly of Renfrew; Kevin Lark of Valencia; Judy Raabe and Lisa Sten, both of Prospect;
Ben Hughes of Punxsutawney; Lynda Lambert of Ellwood City; Mary Bittner of Glenshaw; Heidi McClure of Creekside; Gloria Peterson of Baden; Colleen Ramsey-Hoesche of Wexford; Lillian Reynolds-Reeher of Stoneboro; Joan Sheuring of Pittsburgh; David Swann of North East; and William Workman and Patricia Workman, both of Sharpsville.
The “Green” exhibit runs through March 23.
Other upcoming events at The Art Center include spring art classes, the opening of the annual Butler County High School show on March 30, the opening of the annual spring show and sale on May 5, the opening of the photography show on June 22, and the opening of the annual nature and wildlife show on Aug. 3.
“The Human Form” continues through March 23 in the Underground Gallery at The Art Center.
