STACY GROUNDBREAKING

Forty years ago, in March 1969, ground was broken for the Irene Stacy Mental Health Center off McQuistion Road in Butler Township. The project cost at the time was just under $408,000. Turning the first shovel of dirt were county commissioner James A. Green, M.S. Bitner, representing the Stacy family, and Mitchell S. Fudoli, chairman of the board of directors of the Mental Health Guidance Clinic. A $100,000 donation was made by the Festus Stacy family as a memorial to Irene Stacy, who died in an auto accident in Florida in 1966.
