Some notes on extreme croquet:

• The Conservancy ordered 200 croquet balls from a company in Canada for use in the games.

• All 100 wooden mallets — varying in length and weight — were handcrafted by Conservancy blacksmith Ryan Stauffer. The lumber came from fallen trees on Conservancy grounds.

• The wickets are made of half-inch solid steel rods and are durable under all weather conditions.

• All of the conservancy grounds are in play, with the exception of the garden and ponds.

• There is no uprooting of nature or displacing of wickets allowed.

• Krocketklubben R.A.S.O.P., founded April 9, 1975, is the oldest known extreme croquet club in the world. It was formed by students of the Linkoping University of Technology in Sweden.

• Extreme croquet clubs exist in Sweden, Austria, Denmark, British Columbia and the United States.

• The Connecticut Extreme Croquet Society, formed in 1984, is the oldest extreme croquet organization in the United States.
