Red Barn Players go 'Around the World in 80 Days'
FRANKLIN TWP, Beaver County — Stampeding elephants! Raging typhoons! Runaway trains!
It’s the original amazing race, only this one starts in London in 1872.
The actors of the Red Barn Players will open their 59th season with the stage adaptation of the Jules Verne novel “Around the World in 80 Days.”
This family friendly comedy will run for eight performances beginning May 31.
Fearless adventurer Phileas Fogg and his faithful manservant, Passepartout, race to beat the clock after Fogg agrees to an outrageous wager — one that puts his fortune and life at risk — that he can circle the globe in only 80 days.
Fogg’s every step is dogged by a detective who thinks he’s a robber on the run.
Five actors portray 39 characters who traverse seven continents in this show, adapted for the stage by Mark Brown.
Annette Quinn of Mars is directing.
The cast includes Conner Gillooly and John Zuemie, both of Cranberry Township; Tom Bickert of Ellwood City; Robert Hazen of New Castle; and Michelina Pollini of Wexford.
Performances are set for 8 p.m. May 31, June 1, 6 to 8 and 13 to 15 at the Red Barn Theatre on Ellwood-Zelienople Road. Tickets are $12.
