The free Outdoor Discovery series, hosted by Butler County Parks and Recreation Department, concludes with “Be a Scientist” with Jennings Environmental Education Center at 6:30 p.m. today at Alameda Park's Carousel Shelter. Call 724-284-5383.

Cruises aboard Nautical Nature, a 37-passenger enclosed pontoon boat, include a 90-minute narrated tour of Lake Arthur, as sponsored by the Moraine Preservation Fund. Weekend cruises begin at 1 and 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Tickets for adults are $11 online and $12 at the gate, for senior citizens, $9 and $10, and for children, $5 and $6. Moraine State Park offers family fishing programs at 1 p.m. Saturday. Families must register at www.visitPAparks.com or by calling 724-368-3612. Demonstrations of the historic oil well operations will be held 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sept. 13 at the well along Park Road off Route 528.

McConnells Mill State Park, Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, will host “A Taste of History: Dutch Oven Cooking Demonstrations” from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday and Sept. 14. The historic gristmill is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Call 724-368-8811.
