Free Outdoor Discovery programs, hosted by the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department, take place Thursdays at Alameda Park. The program today will be “Alameda Park: Butler’s Disneyland” with Bill May. It begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Carousel Shelter. The June 25 program is a Nature Expo from Penn State Extension.

Moraine State Park, Muddy Creek Township, will offer a program on “Fireflies!” from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Friday; “Learn to Kayak” from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday; a “Family Fishing Festival” from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday; and “Explore Offshore” from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. June 27. Call the park office at 724-368-8811 for reservations.

Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528, Brady Township, is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and on weekends as scheduled. The trails are open daily from sunrise to sunset. Call 724-794-6011.

Star parties sponsored by the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh are scheduled, weather permitting, at 8:55 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Nicholas E.
