Students give creek report

BRADY TWP — Several Westminster College chemistry students will present their research on Slippery Rock Creek at a Slippery Rock Watershed Coalition meeting at 7 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Jennings Environmental Education Center.

The students are participating in a program developed to apply their knowledge of laboratory chemical analysis to an actual field project. The students collected water samples from a passive water treatment system constructed by the watershed coalition to alleviate the effects of abandoned mine drainage on Slippery Rock Creek.

The students analyzed the samples in a college lab. The results will be presented and discussed at the meeting. Anyone can attend to support the student project and learn about the work being done to improve the creek.

For information, call the center at 724-794-6011.
