Art sought for focus on domestic violence

The Butler Art Center is seeking artwork for the second annual art show in observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Original art of all media is to represent the experiences of survivors of domestic violence and their children.

This year’s theme is “The Monster Within.” Art should reflect artists’ personal interpretations of the monsters that can exist within a domestic violence relationship. Creating and viewing art can help survivors through the healing process.

For more information, call 724-283-8700 or e-mail gloria@voiceforvictims.com.

An artist reception and candlelight vigil is planned for 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 25. The exhibit will run Sept. 23 to Oct. 23 at the Art Center, 344 S. Main St.
